Creative Catalyst
The Jaunt creates unique opportunities and possibilities for artists. The project allows artists to travel the world and find inspiration – a lasting inspiration that potentially permeates their creative process. The Jaunt’s mission is to catalyse progress and feed fresh insight into the artistic practice of our artists. The first step in this process is taking the artist out of their comfort zone and allowing them experience completely new surroundings.

Destination Worldwide
The concept is simple: send an artist on a trip to find inspiration. There is no agenda or a briefing for the artist during their trip. The artist makes their own plans to meet with other people, visit museums, go on hikes, study neoclassical architecture or whatever else comes across their path. While the artist is on the road, they document their impressions in a travel blog which gives even more insight into the artist’s perspective.

Silkscreen Print Editions
After the artist returns home from their trip, the artist channels all of the impressions into an artwork that is reproduced as a limited edition and handmade, silkscreen print. It’s a unique travel document in the form of an artwork. Before the trip takes places, we give our audience to chance to pre-order the silkscreen print before it is made. You know which artist is going where, but not yet what the artwork looks like. This allows you to contribute to making the inspiration possible, while experiencing the creative process from up close. For the production of our silkscreen prints we work together with various independent print studios all over the world, predominantly based in Europe and the United States.

Curator and travel planner
Jeroen Smeets founded The Jaunt and acts as the project’s curator and travel planner. With a background in art ranging from Editor-In-Chief to agent and gallery owner – and a variety of jobs in between – Jeroen started The Jaunt in early 2013 after talking to artists and hearing their repeated desire to travel the world. With The Jaunt he has found a way to fulfil their dreams.

About Timo Kuilder
Hailing from the capital of the Netherlands, Timo Kuilder’s work is fuelled by his ongoing curiosity and whenever possible by observing the nature around him. Through the ethos of less is more, Tim utilises simple shapes to tell stories in all kinds of different ways. Through painting, Timo forces himself to slow his process down even breaking things down even further to its most simplest form.

About Seth Pimentel
Through the merging of graffiti, contemporary art, and illustration, Seth Pimentel is pushing the boundaries of classic portraiture. As an artist from Johannesburg, South. Africa, he is addressing themes of identity, mental health and modern life in the digital age, using his creative process to share his experiences in post-colonial South Africa.
