HyperCulture is a designer-director duo based in the Netherlands. The term “hyperculture” refers to the natural outcome of living in a digitally connected society capable of rapid communication. They draw inspiration from pop culture, subcultures, and ethnic cultures to create visual aesthetics with a unique narrative. Value and excitement are generated by remixing and recontextualizing visual languages from different cultures, eras, and forms.
Floris Vos and Peter van de Riet are the two creatives who have come together to form HyperCulture.
Over the past five years, HyperCulture has developed a methodology in their creative practice where their commercial work feeds their autonomous work, and vice versa. A perfect example of this is their LookBooks. In contrast to the traditional concept of a showreel, which typically offers a retrospective look at past projects, HyperCulture has chosen a forward-looking approach by creating (motion) LookBooks. In these LookBooks, HyperCulture blends assets from previous projects to create new contexts. “It is a journey of experimentation, uncovering fresh themes and emerging trends for the future.”
A new step the duo has taken is using these LookBooks as a manifesto to create physical work. 3 Eyed Manifest… is a collection of remixed digital assets from the past five years, isolated and brought into the physical realm.
